Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has committed more than ₦2 billion to rebuild and modernize the popular Farm Centre GSM Market, following a recent fire that damaged several shops.
The project, which includes reconstruction of burnt sections and new infrastructure, is aimed at boosting commercial activity and creating a safer, more efficient trading space. Planned features include a fire station, solar-powered lights, improved drainage, better roads, and a pedestrian bridge.
Governor Yusuf said the upgrade will also position the market as a regional hub for phone and gadget traders, with the potential to serve businesses from neighbouring countries.
