The Lagos State Government has unveiled three new train sets for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line, marking a major step forward in the city's efforts to modernise its public transport system.
Each of the newly delivered sets comprises four cars, effectively doubling the passenger capacity on the Blue Line and reducing wait times for commuters. The addition is expected to significantly improve travel efficiency and reliability, with trains projected to run every 10 minutes.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the National Theatre Station, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu credited the Federal Government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support, noting that their commitment facilitated the successful procurement and delivery of the trains.

"This investment will directly improve the commute for thousands of Lagosians," the governor said. "We are building infrastructure and a better future for urban mobility in Lagos—and we're just getting started."
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced that new trains for the LRMT Red Line—which will have twice the capacity of the Blue Line—are expected before the end of the year. He confirmed that construction on Phase 2 of the Blue Line, extending the route from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, is progressing steadily.
The expansion of the Lagos rail network is a key part of the state's broader transportation reform agenda aimed at improving connectivity and easing congestion in Africa's most populous city.
