Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has unveiled key energy initiatives aimed at revitalizing industries and expanding electricity access across the state.
Central to the effort is the completion of an inherited Independent Power Plant (IPP) project at a cost of ₦950 million. The facility, now operational, is expected to stimulate economic activities, revive dormant industries, and attract new investments.
Governor Aliyu described the power plant as a milestone in his administration's drive to transform the state's economic landscape.
"We are committed to bringing industries back to life and ensuring that our people benefit from improved electricity supply," he said.

In a complementary effort, the state government has embarked on the reconnection of eight local government areas in the Eastern Senatorial Zone, which have been without electricity for nearly a decade.
The project, currently underway, aims to restore power, revive rural economies, and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents.
"For too long, these communities have suffered the absence of electricity. We are changing that narrative," Governor Aliyu stated.
The initiatives are part of the administration's broader vision to drive inclusive development through strategic infrastructure and energy investments.
