The National Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Materials Engineers (NI3ME), Abdulrahman Salawu, has called for urgent action to reduce Nigeria's overreliance on oil by harnessing the untapped potential of the solid minerals and metals sectors.
Speaking at a recent conference, Salawu emphasised that Nigeria's long-term economic prosperity depends on bold moves to diversify its economy.
"By developing the metals and solid minerals sectors, we can boost employment, improve living standards, and create opportunities in other critical industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism," he said.
