Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has restated his administration's commitment to advancing food security and supporting agribusiness growth through strategic partnerships and investment in agricultural value chains.
Speaking at the grand finale of the 2025 World Food Day celebration themed "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future," the governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, said agriculture remains central to economic stability, innovation, and sustainable livelihoods.
Sanwo-Olu said the event highlights the collective responsibility of governments, businesses, and communities to strengthen food systems and tackle hunger and malnutrition.
"Despite being the smallest state in landmass, Lagos accommodates over 22 million residents. Feeding such a large population demands innovation, bold investments, and strong partnerships," he said.
He noted that since the launch of the Lagos State Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap (2021–2025), the government has implemented several interventions aimed at improving food production, storage, and distribution.
