Speaking at the Youth Action event in Abuja, themed The Youths are Here, Cardoso—represented by CBN Deputy Governor Muhammad Sani Abdullahi—outlined the Bank's strategy to empower young entrepreneurs through youth-friendly credit policies and training initiatives. He highlighted the CBN's focus on bridging financial access gaps, fostering innovation, and strengthening partnerships with civil society, international organizations, and the private sector. Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and Vice President of the Joint Consultative Council of the CBN, Jamilu Ado, also underscored the importance of sustained policy efforts in positioning Nigerian youth as key drivers of economic growth.

The programme, aimed at providing financial relief to low-income households, saw an increase from 30.35 million beneficiaries in June 2024. Women make up a significant portion, with 28.55 million female recipients. To enhance security and transparency, the CBN mandated NIN or BVN verification for all beneficiaries since March 2024. The National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) partnered with the National Identity Management Commission to validate identities and strengthen the social register. Despite progress, the World Bank rated the programme's implementation as "moderately satisfactory," citing challenges such as policy shifts, leadership changes, and macroeconomic risks.

This initiative aims to boost local content and enhance Nigeria's gas sector. P-CNGI Programme Director, Michael Oluwagbemi, revealed this at the inauguration of five mini Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants in Ajaokuta. The plants, spearheaded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and its private partners, will produce a combined 97 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, advancing the Federal Government's Gas Revolution Agenda (GRA). He also noted that P-CNGI has established over 190 CNG conversion centres and 56 retail outlets, with plans to increase these figures to 500 and 150, respectively, by year-end. The newly launched LNG plants—NNPC Prime LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete—will produce Condensate, LNG, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and CNG, leveraging Kogi's natural gas resources and the Ajaokuta-Obajana pipeline.
