Export opportunities for Anambra-based entrepreneurs are expanding, thanks to a recent capacity-building programme hosted by the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in Awka.
Held under the theme "Connect Anambra State to the World", the event trained Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), manufacturers, shippers, and freight forwarders on available incentives for exporters.
Peter Udom, NEPC Coordinator in Anambra, said participants were educated on vital incentives like the Export Expansion Grant (EEG), Tax Relief on Interest Income (TRII), and the Export Development Fund (EDF).
"These incentives are designed to ease the burden on exporters—once they're registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and NEPC," Udom explained.

Technical sessions tackled critical topics, including export documentation and procedures. Toju Macjaja from NEPC HQ highlighted how incentives can double Anambra's export figures.
Emeka Akpaka, President of the Anambra State Shippers Association, praised the initiative. "This training demystifies export. With our Igba-boi culture, we're ready to take exports mainstream," he said.
He emphasized that proper documentation and adherence to procedures are key to projecting Nigeria's integrity on the global stage.
