Central to the effort is the completion of an inherited Independent Power Plant (IPP) project at a cost of ₦950 million. The facility, now operational, is expected to stimulate economic activities, revive dormant industries, and attract new investments. Governor Aliyu described the power plant as a milestone in his administration's drive to transform the state's economic landscape. "We are committed to bringing industries back to life and ensuring that our people benefit from improved electricity supply," he said. The initiative, which spans six years, focuses on enhancing productivity in key livestock value chains piggery, poultry, sheep, and goat farming. It also targets processors and marketers, ensuring a comprehensive approach to strengthening the livestock sector. Speaking during a media briefing, Mr. Olufemi Adeogun, the State Programme Coordinator for Ondo L-PRES, revealed that the project is one of several being implemented across 20 states in Nigeria. H e noted that the aim is to equip farmers with modern tools and techniques to scale commercial livestock production and make the sector more resilient to shocks. > "The overall purpose is to ensure smooth implementation of the project in the state, in accordance with the Project Development Objective (PDO) and operational guidelines as contained in the Project Appraisal Document (PAD) and Project Implementation Manual (PIM)," Adeogun stated. The L-PRES initiative is expected to strengthen Nigeria's capacity to respond to agricultural crises, improve food security, and promote sustainable livelihoods through strategic investments in the livestock sector.
