The Ijebu Development Initiative on Poverty Reduction (IDIPR) has earned high praise from stakeholders for its standout financial performance in 2024 and deep-reaching grassroots empowerment efforts. The commendations poured in during its 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held recently in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The community-based NGO, established in 1999, has consistently focused on reducing poverty and improving livelihoods through enterprise support, microfinance, youth training, healthcare, and agriculture.
According to the Chairman, Professor Abeke Adesanya, IDIPR hit a major milestone in 2024 with a record gross income of ₦137.9 million, doubling its previous high despite economic headwinds including inflation and food insecurity.

"IDIPR has remained a catalyst for real change in Ijebuland. We've scaled up enterprise support, strengthened agriculture, empowered youth, and expanded access to education," Adesanya said.
The numbers speak volumes:
188 capacity-building workshops held, training over 19,000 individuals
₦1.85 billion in microloans disbursed to 13,462 beneficiaries, with a 99.1% repayment rate
Eriwe Farm Village hosted 275 interns
Aquaculture output hit 1,782 metric tonnes of catfish, valued at ₦4.73 billion
Rubber plantations generated ₦197.5 million from 190 tonnes of latex
IDIPR's Tricycle Transport Scheme, supported by a cumulative ₦990 million interest-free loan from the late Oba Sikiru Adetona, has distributed 850 tricycles — with 530 fully repaid, maintaining a 100% recovery rate.
The initiative also launched the Prof. Akinlawon Mabogunje Digital Skills Centre, now a regionally certified hub for digital literacy and testing — a boost to the employability of local youth.
The AGM also marked a leadership transition, as Board of Trustees Chairman, Olu Okuboyejo, stepped down, announcing Lekan Bello as his successor.
With a growing portfolio of impact and a solid financial footing, IDIPR is being hailed as a model for sustainable, community-driven development in Nigeria.
