Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has unveiled a plan to recall indigenes engaged in menial jobs across Nigeria and empower them with skills and business support.
Speaking at a service in Abakaliki, Nwifuru said many Ebonyians outside the state are underpaid and exploited. "We will bring them back and empower them, since they're not being appreciated where they are," he said.
The initiative will be anchored at the Ebonyi Industrial City, where warehouses and skill acquisition centres are under construction. The focus will be on youth empowerment and enterprise creation.

The governor also warned underperforming appointees, citing unmet expectations from the state's "People's Charter of Needs." A recent cabinet reshuffle, he noted, was due to poor performance.
On the alleged fund diversion case involving the Secretary to the State Government, Nwifuru stressed due process, saying the matter is before the court and no action will be taken until investigations conclude.
He called on Ebonyians in the diaspora to invest back home, promising a business-friendly environment.
> "We are creating a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive," he said.
