The Abia State Government has launched a large-scale integrated farming initiative aimed at enhancing food production and creating agribusiness opportunities for youths and small-scale entrepreneurs.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, disclosed this during a joint press briefing on Tuesday, stating that the initiative, modeled after the CSS Farms structure, will serve as both a food security measure and a training ground for young people entering the agricultural sector.
He noted that the first phase of the CSS project achieved an 80% success rate. Beneficiaries who properly utilized interest-free funds will receive further support, while 26 participants who failed to account for their funds face impending sanctions.
