Through the Lagos State Science Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC), the funding is targeted at research and development (R&D), innovation, and STEM education projects. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, said the initiative is part of the state's strategy to build a resilient, knowledge-driven economy. "LASRIC has become a source of hope for young people, start-ups and entrepreneurs in Lagos," he noted. Among the recipients were Prof. Akintayo Ogundajo, Dr. Metilelu Olusola, Dynalimb Technologies' Blessing Aniefiok, and Black Accelerate's Ajayi Oluwafemi. LASRIC Chairman, Prof. Olumiyiwa Odusanya, praised the awardees' creativity, while beneficiaries pledged to use the grants to deliver solutions in fintech, health, climate change, mobility, and more. The initiative strengthens Lagos' vision of becoming Nigeria's top hub for technology, research, and entrepreneurship.

The analysis shows that proper clearance of the goods—valued at over ₦3.3 billion (CIF)—would yield higher government revenue while supporting trade compliance. Importers, however, face steep clearance costs of more than ₦720 million, often leading to abandoned cargo and port congestion. Project Coordinator, Abiodun Olaniyi, said the event will address key challenges like post-harvest losses, low input efficiency, and supply gaps while promoting innovation across livestock, finance, organic farming, and agroecology. The expo will also highlight opportunities in underutilized crops such as moringa, broccoli, and flowers. Regional Lead, Adekunle Adamson, noted that this year's edition includes a Farmers' Day and a Women Entrepreneurship Hub to provide training on packaging, marketing, product registration, and market access.
