The Akwa Ibom State Government has rolled out over N5.1 billion in grants to support small businesses, farmers, and traders under Governor Umo Eno's ARISE empowerment programme.
The initiative allocates N2 billion for individual and corporate farmers, another N2 billion for validated traders across the 31 LGAs, and N800 million for MSMEs in equipment support. Additionally, a special grant of N310 million will be awarded to two farmers from each LGA.
Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, highlighted the programme's impact at a press briefing in Uyo, emphasizing the administration's commitment to economic growth. He announced that the first 50 beneficiaries of the ARISE Home Garden (AHG) programme would receive N500,000 each on February 6, 2025.
Senior officials, including Dr. Frank Ekpenyong and Mr. Ime Uwah, assured transparency in fund distribution through the ARISE MSMEs Portal and the Ibom LED Centre. NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, commended the initiative, pledging media support in amplifying the government's strides in entrepreneurship development.
