The hidden toll of pesticides: how chronic exposure quietly harms bees Pesticides, widely used to protect crops from pests, often unintentionally harm pollinators like bumble bees. Can Kaolin Clay Help African Farmers Combat Climate Change? Curling maize leaves, wilting coffee plants and declining yields — these are some of the realities climate change brings when it's mid-February in Kenya's Rift Valley. Conservation Agriculture in Malawi Boosts Soil Carbon Storage
A new study in Malawi's Mzimba district has found that conservation agriculture (CA) can significantly improve soil organic carbon (SOC) levels by up to one fifth compared to conventional farming methods. The findings add to growing evidence that CA—an agroecological approach focused on minimal soil disturbance, crop rotation, and mulching—could play a crucial role in sustainable farming and climate resilience in sub-Saharan Africa.
Detecting metal in poultry products is a major challenge due to their high conductivity, often resulting in false rejects and product loss. As a best practice example, Plukon has implemented the metal detector Mitus® from Minebea Intec. Thanks to MiWave technology, they have significantly improved detection accuracy and reduced false rejects—ensuring efficient processes and reliable product safety in poultry production.
Quality lubricants are critical for optimal efficiency in cold storage truck fleets
The most critical aspect for cold storage truck fleets is temperature control. Goods must be transported under optimal temperature conditions at all times, ensuring integrity of goods. "It is a delicate balancing act as the temperature is dictated by the cargo carried and can vary from – 25ᵒC to +25ᵒC," notes Andy Weddell, Local Segment Lead – Commercial Vehicles at FUCHS LUBRICANTS SOUTH AFRICA.
