Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has called on the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) to focus on power as a critical driver of economic growth in the region.
Speaking during a meeting with the SEDC board at his office, Otti emphasized that investment in electricity would boost industrialization and small businesses.
"These are the kinds of investments government should make to stabilize the economy. Without stability, we can't tackle unemployment and poverty," he stated.

Otti highlighted his administration's support for Geometric Power, which generates 188 megawatts, and ongoing discussions with Interstate Electrics to extend power supply across Abia State.
Chairman of the commission, Dr. Emeka Wogu, praised Otti's commitment to infrastructure, citing major road projects. SEDC's Managing Director, Dr. Mark Okoye, outlined plans to revive the South-East economy by leveraging entrepreneurship and technology.
Governor Otti commended President Tinubu and the National Assembly for establishing the commission, reaffirming his administration's commitment to regional development.
