Niger Foods has signed a tripartite agreement with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) and the Ministry for Youth Development to engage 100,000 youth in a national agricultural scheme, with Niger State as the pilot location.
The signing, supervised by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago at the Government House, Minna, outlines key roles for each partner: Niger Foods will handle crop production, NALDA will oversee land development, and the Youth Ministry will facilitate funding and social services.
Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, revealed that the initiative aims to produce 500,000 tonnes of food, with participants earning ₦150,000 in the first year, potentially increasing to millions over time.

NALDA CEO Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo hailed Niger State as a leader in agricultural development, while Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, emphasized the scheme's alignment with President Bola Tinubu's vision for youth empowerment.
Governor Bago described the agreement as a landmark achievement, reaffirming his administration's commitment to mechanized farming, livestock development, and irrigation. He projected that Niger State could generate trillions from livestock within two years through a partnership with Saudi Arabia for Eid-el-Kabir ram supply.
He expressed confidence that the initiative will unlock youth potential and drive economic growth.
