The Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) has sealed a strategic partnership to accelerate the deployment of CNG mini-fueling stations across Nigeria. This initiative is expected to reshape the country's transportation sector by expanding access to compressed natural gas (CNG) as a cost-effective fuel alternative.
The agreement aligns with the federal government's push to promote CNG adoption, reducing reliance on expensive fossil fuels.

Pi-CNG confirmed the deal, stating, "In a landmark move to accelerate Nigeria's clean energy transition, we have formalized partnerships with key industry stakeholders to deploy CNG mini-fueling stations and cutting-edge equipment nationwide."
With over 100,000 vehicles already converted to CNG as of early 2025, the initiative aims to reach one million conversions by 2027. Experts estimate that achieving this target requires at least 1,000 conversion centers and refueling stations across the country.
Renewable energy expert Adelanke Dayo-Adepoju emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, "This synergy between government, industry stakeholders, and the public is key to driving Nigeria toward energy security and economic prosperity."
Logistics expert Amina M. Abdullahi highlighted the financial benefits, noting that vehicle owners could save over 60% on fuel costs by switching to CNG.
