The Kwara State Government has trained over 200 livestock farmers in commercial fodder production and bull fattening, as part of its broader livestock development strategy.
Commissioner for Livestock Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas, disclosed this at the Inter-ministerial Press Briefing in Ilorin.
She revealed plans to link dairy farmers with milk collection centres to improve market access and announced the geospatial mapping of transhumance routes in collaboration with Bayero University to prevent farmer-herder clashes.

Thomas also highlighted key activities under the Special Agro Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) project, including needs assessments and promotion of gender-friendly infrastructure.
The Commissioner noted Kwara's involvement in the March 2025 Cadre Harmonisé Analysis for food and nutrition security, and lauded development partners like the World Bank, FAO, and AfDB.
She urged private sector stakeholders and cooperatives to support the state's goal of a resilient, GDP-boosting livestock economy.
