The Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) has announced that its new juice factory in Makurdi will begin operations on October 1, 2025. The factory, which is fully equipped and located along Naka Road, is expected to produce mango and orange juice using fruits sourced directly from local farmers at competitive prices.
According to BIPC's Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, the factory will provide direct employment to 400 workers and help stabilize the pricing of fruits in the region, discouraging exploitative buying from outside the state. He noted that Benue farmers, known for producing premium oranges and mangoes, will benefit from a guaranteed market and fair pricing.

The factory is also expected to attract technical partners from the European Union, ensuring high production standards. Asemakaha highlighted the state's broader industrial efforts, which have so far created over 580 direct and 3,000 indirect jobs through ventures such as bread, water, nails, and polythene production.
Work on the Benue Brewery is also nearing completion, with operations set to begin soon and projected to create over 1,000 jobs using local raw materials like cassava and rice. Asemakaha urged youths to equip themselves with vocational skills to take advantage of these opportunities.
For long-term sustainability, he suggested partial privatization of state-owned businesses to encourage local ownership and ensure better management.
