Chairman Dele Oye warned that an abrupt ban could disrupt investments, contracts, and the livelihoods of exporters and processors, many of whom are SMEs. He said while the policy supports industrialisation and value addition in Nigeria's $6.6bn shea industry, SMEs need a clear transition period, financing options, technical support, and training to upgrade local processing. Read also, Oye recommended a six-month transition window, government support in purchasing unsold stock, and stronger communication to prevent smuggling and losses. He stressed that gradual implementation, backed by global best practices, will protect small businesses while building local capacity and sustaining international trade. | | | |
