A total of 146 Nigerian women entrepreneurs have been selected to benefit from the first phase of the $50 million Women Exporters in Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund, an initiative of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC).
The programme is designed to strengthen women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing access to finance, technical support, and global market opportunities.
In the first phase, 16 participants under the "booster track" will each receive $30,000 alongside 18 months of technical support, while another 130 women will receive $5,000 and one year of structured business assistance.

Speaking at the launch in Abuja, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, praised the initiative, noting that it complements President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda by diversifying the economy and empowering women entrepreneurs.
The WEIDE Fund is expected to help tackle barriers such as limited access to capital, weak digital infrastructure, and poor global market connections that often hinder the growth of women-led enterprises.
