This pledge was made at a refception in Lagos celebrating the 76th anniversary of the People's Republic of China and 56 years of Nigeria–China diplomatic ties. Hon. Jaafaru Yakubu, Chairman of the House Committee on China-Nigeria Parliamentary Relations, hailed the partnership for delivering visible gains in infrastructure, trade, and cultural exchange. Chinese Consul General in Lagos, Ms. Yan Yuqing, revealed that bilateral trade hit $21.89 billion in 2024, positioning Nigeria as China's second-largest trading partner in Africa.
