Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as bold, necessary, and proof of the power of political will in driving policy.
Speaking at the opening of the 66th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) in Abuja, Shettima noted that the reforms, though painful, are addressing structural weaknesses that past administrations ignored. He likened them to "painful surgery" required to cure a malignant disease, stressing that the recovery will be permanent.
The Vice President urged African nations to embrace the knowledge economy and structural transformation to tackle poverty, unemployment, and human capital challenges. He said global challenges like AI, supply chain disruptions, and energy transition should be seen as opportunities for growth.
