The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has deepened its drive for women's empowerment and MSME development through a new partnership with Dangote Cement Plc. The collaboration, unveiled during Dangote's Sustainability 2025 Week, focuses on promoting skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among women and youths in grassroots communities.
At the event held at WAPA Vocational Centre, Anthony Village, eight beneficiaries from the Ajomo-Ikosi community were enrolled for vocational training at the Kosofe Skill Acquisition Centre. Each participant also received start-up packs to help them begin small-scale enterprises upon completion of their training.

Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, commended Dangote Cement for its sustained collaboration with the Lagos State Government, describing it as aligned with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's THEMES Plus Agenda for inclusive growth and poverty alleviation. She emphasised that empowering women with employable skills was vital to building resilient families, communities, and small businesses.
Dangote Industries' Deputy Head of Sustainability, Dr. Oyekemi Oyelola, reaffirmed the company's commitment to advancing community-based initiatives that promote livelihoods and environmental sustainability. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of start-up packs, drawing praise from community leaders and stakeholders who lauded the partnership for creating lasting impact at the grassroots level.
