The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) is tackling the growing skills shortage in Nigeria's automotive industry by launching an advanced mechatronics training program for technicians and youth in Ondo State.
This initiative, aimed at enhancing vehicle repair and maintenance capabilities, is a strategic step to equip 50 participants with the skills required to service modern vehicles effectively.
According to NADDC's Director General, Oluwemimo Osanipin, the rapid advancements in automotive technology have exposed significant gaps in the local maintenance and repair sector. In response, the NADDC conducted a comprehensive skills-gap analysis, leading to the development of this crucial training program.
NADDC's broader effort to transform the Nigerian automotive industry includes the establishment of 21 Automotive Training Centres (ATCs) across the country.
These centers are equipped with cutting-edge tools and technology, designed to meet international standards and foster job creation. The goal is to enhance technicians' abilities, improve safety standards, and promote a more sustainable automotive sector.
