The Federal Executive Council (FEC), chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved two key initiatives under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy (@FMCIDENigeria) to enhance digital connectivity and position Nigeria as a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The Nigeria Universal Communication Access Project, established under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aims to connect over 21 million Nigerians in 4,834 underserved communities, particularly in rural areas.
This project complements Project Bridge, the government's 90,000km Fibre Fund, by expanding mobile network coverage through additional base stations.

Its role is to mobilize resources, provide oversight, and drive AI development in key economic sectors to attract foreign investment and create jobs.
These initiatives highlight the administration's commitment to advancing Nigeria's digital economy and ensuring inclusive technological growth.
