The Federal Government has approved the establishment of the Food Processing Equipment and Machinery Development Institute (FOPEMDI) in Ekiti State, reinforcing its commitment to agricultural advancement.
In a letter to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, NASENI's Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Halilu, requested land for a permanent site and a temporary location for the institute's immediate takeoff.
Reacting, Ekiti's Agriculture Commissioner, Ebenezer Boluwade, hailed the approval as another major boost for the state, crediting it to the government's diligence and commitment to economic growth.

He thanked President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that FOPEMDI aligns with the administration's focus on agricultural development.
This comes after Ekiti was designated as the pilot state for agriculture in the South West, selected for an Agricultural Skills Programme by NADF, and chosen as the site for the region's first soil assessment laboratory.
