The Kano State House of Assembly has passed a bill to create the Kano State Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Agency.
The bill, which reached its third reading on Monday, received strong support from lawmakers, who highlighted its potential to boost local industries, reduce unemployment, and improve the state's business environment.
Majority Leader Alhaji Lawan Husseini emphasized that the agency would regulate and support SME growth by providing structured assistance, skill acquisition programs, and access to credit facilities.

Manufacturers like Alhaji Sabo Ali have urged the state government to expedite implementation once Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf gives his assent, calling it a crucial step toward strengthening Kano's business ecosystem and diversifying its economy.
