The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed counterfeit and expired drugs, substandard processed food, and other unwholesome products valued at ₦4.7 billion in Rivers State. The destruction exercise took place at the Aluu dumpsite in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The seized items included substandard medical supplies, expired goods confiscated from manufacturers, importers, and distributors, as well as products voluntarily surrendered by compliant companies and associations.

Among the destroyed items were unregistered cosmetics, imported vegetable oil lacking mandatory Vitamin A fortification, and two 40-foot containers of unregistered drugs handed over by the Nigeria Customs Service in Edo State.
NAFDAC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting public health by ensuring that only safe and high-quality products are available in the market. The agency urged stakeholders and the public to report suspicious activities and support regulatory compliance efforts to combat the spread of counterfeit and substandard products.
