Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to youth development as he met with the Executive Council (EXCO) members of the newly elected National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter.
During the meeting, the governor officially unveiled the 2024-2025 IBILE Youth Academy State and Divisional Ambassadors, a key initiative aimed at grooming young leaders across the five divisions of Lagos: Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of equipping young people with leadership skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and civic responsibility to prepare them for future challenges.
He assured the NYCN executives of his administration's continued support in creating more opportunities for Lagos youths, particularly in areas of education, business development, and digital economy participation.
The IBILE Youth Academy serves as a platform for mentoring young leaders, fostering community engagement, and promoting social development initiatives.
With the unveiling of the new ambassadors, the state government aims to further strengthen youth participation in governance, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Stakeholders in the SME sector see this initiative as a potential boost for youth-led businesses and startups, as government-backed mentorship and leadership programs often translate into better opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
Business Angle:
Experts believe that initiatives like the IBILE Youth Academy could enhance youth-driven enterprises, encouraging young entrepreneurs to explore new business ideas while benefiting from government-backed training and networking.
The NYCN's involvement also signals greater collaboration between the state and youth-led business communities, potentially leading to policies that support young innovators and job creators.
This development is expected to open doors for youth participation in Lagos' economic growth, further solidifying the state's reputation as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
