Sokoto State is strengthening its commitment to food security through strategic partnerships aimed at empowering farmers, enhancing irrigation, and promoting agro-processing.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, reaffirmed this while receiving Mr. Koffy Dominic, the Country Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the United Nations and ECOWAS, at the Government House, Sokoto.
FAO, in collaboration with France, plans to support Sokoto in three key areas: providing nutritious food to 1,700 children, distributing seeds and farming tools to women to enhance household farming, and training students in modern agricultural techniques.

The delegation will also visit project sites in Rabah and Tangaza local government areas to assess ongoing interventions that improve food production and climate resilience.
Mr. Dominic commended the Sokoto State government for its commitment to sustainable agriculture and acknowledged the Deputy Governor's efforts in championing food security initiatives.
