Minister of State for Industry and Investment, Sen. John Owan Enoh, has commissioned a 10,000-tonne capacity onion storage facility in Gadar Tamburawa, Dawakin Kudu, Kano State, to reduce post-harvest losses and boost agribusiness.
The state-of-the-art facility, developed by PRISM Foods Ltd., aims to support northern onion farmers who often lose a large portion of their harvest due to poor storage.

Sen. Enoh described the initiative as a step toward achieving President Tinubu's agenda on food security, job creation, and youth empowerment. "This investment will not only reduce waste but also create jobs and increase farmers' income," he said.
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, represented by Commerce Commissioner Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, lauded the private sector's role in strengthening agriculture and pledged state support.
PRISM Foods CEO, Aman Gupta, said the facility was born out of a desire to reduce farmers' losses. Alhaji Aliyu Maitasamu, Chairman of the National Onion Association, highlighted Nigeria's 2 million metric tonnes of onion production, saying the facility will ensure fresher, market-ready produce.
