Over 12,000 targeted beneficiaries in Ebonyi State have received preloaded debit cards under the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) initiative, launched by the Nigerian government to ease economic hardship among vulnerable households.
The distribution was officially flagged off by Governor Francis Nwifuru, represented by the Commissioner for Human Capital Development, Mrs. Ann Aligwe, at a ceremony held in Abakaliki, the state capital.
"This initiative is part of the 'people's charter of needs'—a key agenda of Governor Nwifuru's administration aimed at cushioning the effects of hardship among citizens," Aligwe said. She noted that while previous payments typically covered three months, this phase will disburse funds for two months.
