Wife of the vice president, Hajiya Nana Shettima, has said that Nigeria's development and future are directly linked to the empowerment of women, especially in business and leadership.
She made this known in Abuja at the 2025 edition of the Women Divine Destine Initiative (WODDI) Inspiration Women's Summit, themed 'Bold moves, boundless impact'. The event brought together entrepreneurs, professionals, and advocates to promote confidence, leadership, and economic participation among women.
"It is important for women to lead," Shettima said. "Embrace your strengths, seek opportunities to lead, and take decisive action in your communities and businesses."
She encouraged participants to tap into their inner strength and use the insights from the summit to drive meaningful change in their ventures and communities.

WODDI, founded by Dr Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha in 2008, supports women, adolescents, and young people through mentorship, education, and economic empowerment. Okorocha said the summit was a challenge for women to stop holding back and start leading boldly.
"The theme is a demand," she said. "It dares us to defy expectations and step fully into our power. This is your moment."
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, also spoke at the event, highlighting his support for gender-focused legislation. He said the summit focused on key areas like leadership, financial literacy, health, and advocacy—tools needed for women to unlock their full potential.
Kalu and Shettima both commended Dr Okorocha for her continued support for women and the vulnerable, including her housing projects for widows and her work with orphans.
The summit was attended by entrepreneurs, policymakers, and former first ladies, reinforcing the importance of women-led initiatives in building a stronger, more inclusive economy.
