Lagos State is strengthening its support for SMEs to tap into global markets, especially under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), with an eye on European and Asian export opportunities.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Commissioner Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, reaffirmed this commitment while receiving the "SME Most Friendly Governor of the Year 2025" award at the Nigeria National SME Business Awards.
He outlined the state's strategies including access to export information, financing, and capacity-building to boost SMEs' global competitiveness. "We're helping SMEs understand and navigate international trade, scale strategically, and benefit from a conducive business environment," the governor said.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner Adebola Sofela, represented by Engr. Kehinde Akintomide, showcased similar strides through MSME clinics, facilitation desks, and the Ogun Enterprise Development Agency.
The event highlighted inter-state collaborations and ASBON's role in amplifying the impact of small businesses across Nigeria's economy.
