The Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) has called on the Federal Government to deepen collaboration with the institute to tackle food insecurity using modern technologies.
Speaking in Abuja at the investiture of Bishop Matthew Kukah as a trustee, NIFST President, Dr. Bola Osinowo, emphasized the institute's readiness to deploy advanced food processing methods that promote efficiency, sustainability, and quality.
Osinowo said, "Rising food prices, climate change, and global food shortages are challenges we are equipped to confront. Nigeria stands at a crossroads, and NIFST can play a pivotal role in shaping the country's food security landscape."

He noted that food science holds the key to increasing food production, improving preservation, and promoting sustainable farming practices.
Bishop Kukah, on his part, pledged to use his new role to support initiatives that address hunger and promote food access across Nigeria.
NIFST represents food professionals across academia, industry, government, and research, and continues to champion innovation in Nigeria's food sector.
