The Federal Government's renewed push to reform Nigeria's livestock sector is gaining ground, as 10 states have pledged support to provide land and logistics to drive sustainable livestock production and reduce farmer-herder conflicts.
States including Kogi, Benue, Gombe, Bauchi, Borno, and Plateau declared their commitment during a two-day stakeholder meeting organised by the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in partnership with the World Bank.
With water and pasture being key conflict triggers, the initiative focuses on addressing these issues through commercial pasture development and technology adoption.
