The newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen across Lagos State's 57 local governments and local council development areas (LCDAs) have been sworn into office, with a strong mandate to drive grassroots development and create a more enabling environment for small businesses.
During the swearing-in ceremony, the Lagos State Governor charged the incoming leaders to prioritize service delivery that directly impacts communities, including safer streets, better roads, functional health centres, thriving schools, clean markets, and real opportunities for the youth.

"Local governments now have full autonomy, with direct access to their funds, and that means direct accountability," the governor said. "There will be no excuses. Lagos is counting on you to bring real development to every street, every ward, and every community."
For small businesses, this renewed emphasis on infrastructure, market cleanliness, and youth empowerment is expected to translate into improved operating conditions and increased local economic activity. The state government also pledged to support the councils while holding them to the highest standards of governance and results.
