The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged women in leadership positions to intensify efforts at mentoring younger women and promoting economic empowerment.
She made the appeal when members of the Forum of Female Chief Executive Officers of Government Agencies and Organisations paid her a courtesy visit at the State House, Abuja.
Mrs Tinubu described the CEOs as trailblazers who must use their positions to inspire others, stressing the importance of mentoring as a tool for strengthening women's participation in national development.
"Birth yourselves in others. Look for them to mentor them. Replicate yourself in other women and that is the way we would be strong. Make yourselves unforgettable by the things you do outside your office," she said.
The First Lady cited the examples of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Margaret Ekpo, Gambo Sawaba, Abibat Mogaji and other matriarchs, noting that their collective efforts advanced the cause of Nigerian women.
"We have to come together, better and stronger than them. We have to ensure that we make life easier for women. Mentor young women, give scholarships, take one person through life. Don't look for the volume," she added.

She also highlighted her call for partnership in completing the National Library project, saying it would provide vital support for indigent students in their educational pursuit.
Leader of the Forum and Director General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, pledged the group's support for the First Lady and the administration.
"As a group, Your Excellency, we do not take our mandates lightly and are sincerely grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for deeming us fit and proper to hold our respective offices. We commend your Renewed Hope Initiatives. Your dedication to women's empowerment is truly inspiring," Dabiri-Erewa said.
She affirmed that the female CEOs would continue to champion good governance, women's rights, and gender equity, while also working closely with the First Lady to promote unity, progress and national development.
Twenty-four female chief executives of federal government agencies attended the meeting.
