The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has commenced the construction of its Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, marking another milestone in the Federal Government's plan to expand access to affordable housing across Nigeria.
The project was officially launched by Governor Umo Eno, alongside FHA Managing Director and Chief Executive, Oyetunde Ojo, who lauded the state's collaboration and support for the initiative.
Ojo, represented by FHA's Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Chigelu, commended the governor for providing land at no cost and pledging continued assistance to ensure the project's success.
He noted that the Akwa Ibom project was symbolic, being the first in the South-South under President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Housing Programme, which aims to deliver livable and affordable homes nationwide.

"We are fulfilling President Tinubu's promise to renew the hope of Nigerians by providing roofs over their heads," Ojo said, adding that similar groundbreakings would soon take place in Kaduna, Abia, Ogun, Ekiti, Kogi, and Adamawa states.
Governor Umo Eno praised the Federal Government for choosing Akwa Ibom as one of the first states to benefit, noting that the project aligns with his administration's goal of improving workers' welfare and reducing the housing deficit.
He assured that the state would ensure a conducive environment for the project's timely completion, reaffirming that his government prioritises the welfare and security of its citizens.
The Renewed Hope Housing Scheme is a flagship initiative of the Tinubu administration, implemented through the FHA and the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. It is designed to create jobs, strengthen local building industries, and promote inclusive home ownership across all geopolitical zones.
