The Lee Group, in partnership with the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC), has announced plans to establish a multi-million-dollar sugar production facility in Taraba State, aimed at advancing Nigeria's drive for self-sufficiency in sugar production.
Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NSDC, Mr. Kamar Bakrin, led a delegation to meet Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, seeking the state's collaboration for a smooth takeoff of the project.
Bakrin said the Council's mandate includes capacity development, technical support, and research in sugarcane production, as well as facilitating land access, feasibility studies, and financing for investors.

He added that the Lee Group, through its subsidiary GNAAL Sugar, has demonstrated strong technical expertise and financial capacity to deliver the project.
Bakrin expressed optimism that the Taraba sugar project would stimulate industrial growth, create thousands of jobs, and strengthen the local value chain in line with the Nigeria Sugar Master Plan (NSMP II).
