In a major win for Bahrain's startup scene, Al Salam Bank has become the first bank to join the Open Innovation Programme, teaming up with local startups and SMEs to spark digital innovation in the financial sector.
Backed by Tamkeen and managed by Brinc MENA, the programme connects big businesses with small, agile companies to co-create smart, tech-driven solutions that solve real challenges.
This partnership means Al Salam Bank will work directly with selected startups to develop and test new ideas, from AI-powered banking tools to smarter customer experiences.
The bank will also help co-fund these innovations, proving it's serious about investing in homegrown talent and future-focused solutions.
Tamkeen's CEO, Maha Mofeez, says the move shows Bahrain's commitment to growing a vibrant startup ecosystem, while Al Salam Bank's Anwar Murad says the goal is to shape the future of digital banking together with local innovators.
Startups that make the cut will enter a six-month accelerator, get funding, mentorship, and the chance to pilot their tech with the bank.
For Bahraini SMEs and startups with big ideas, this is more than a partnership it's a rare chance to break into the big league. Applications are now open at https://openinnovation.bh.
