The Federal Capital Territory's Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) is unlocking new opportunities for agro-businesses by transforming how food is produced, processed, and preserved.
Dr. Omole Olateju, SAPZ Officer, said the hub located in Paiko and Karshi will focus on beef and dairy processing to meet export standards.
The project supports institutions like ADP and is training farmers across FCT's six area councils to improve productivity and supply quality raw materials.
By addressing post-harvest losses and food preservation challenges, the zone aims to reduce food inflation and create a sustainable supply chain key pain points for smallholder farmers and food entrepreneurs.

Muhsin Gambo Lawal, of the Rural Institutions Development Secretariat, revealed that 242 farmers have been trained on Integrated Pest Management (IPM), promoting safe, low-cost farming practices over chemical dependency.
Community leader Michael Ogwuche said the initiative will enhance local processing, encourage crop storage hubs in high-yield regions, and attract youth to agribusiness through job creation and export opportunities.
Backed by a $575 million investment from AfDB and IFAD, the SAPZ aligns with national goals to reduce poverty, ensure food security, and support SMEs across the agricultural value chain.
