The Oyo State Government is leveraging cultural heritage to support small businesses and artisans with the launch of the Adire Expo Ibadan 2025 Carnival, scheduled for June 20, 2025. The initiative aims to revitalise the local economy through the promotion of Adire (tie and dye) fabric and traditional crafts.
Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, announced the event at a stakeholders' meeting in Ibadan, stating that it reflects Governor Seyi Makinde's commitment to strengthening the creative economy and empowering local producers.
The carnival is being organised in collaboration with Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi, founder of Adire Odua and Bizrait Exhibitions. Olori Ademiluyi, a long-time advocate for Adire entrepreneurship, described the fabric as a fusion of culture and enterprise.
