Over 240 farmers across Edo South Senatorial District have received farming equipment under Senator Neda Imasuen's agro-empowerment scheme, a partnership with the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River.
Farmers from the 77 wards across seven LGAs benefitted from items such as cutlasses, hoes, insecticides, rain boots, hand gloves, and files.
Senator Imasuen, stressing the urgency of supporting local agriculture amidst soaring food prices, said the programme's extension to a second day reflected his passion for grassroots empowerment.
He urged beneficiaries to maximise the tools to increase their yields for the betterment of their families and communities.

Resource persons Ireti Odi and Lekan Salam trained farmers on agribusiness management and the effective use of the tools. Odi encouraged farmers to adopt a business mindset, while Salam offered practical demonstrations.
Representing the Federal Cooperative College, Iteire Curtis commended Senator Imasuen's commitment to grassroots development and pledged a detailed report on the initiative.
Senator Imasuen reaffirmed that strengthening agriculture remains key to ensuring national food security.
