The Lagos State Government has urged stakeholders in the agricultural sector to adopt technology-driven approaches to boost food production and ensure food security across the state.
This call was made during a pre-season training organised by the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA) at the Women's Development Centre in Agege. The event brought together agricultural extension agents, farmer group representatives, and key industry players.
Themed "AI-powered urban agriculture in Lagos State: enhancing agricultural extension services for increased food production," the programme focused on integrating advanced technologies into farming practices, particularly in urban settings.

LSADA Project Manager, Aliru Alade—represented by the Director of Rural Institution Development, Aderonke Toju-Tubi—highlighted the importance of the annual training as a platform to strengthen the capacity of field officers ahead of the farming season.
"The initiative is designed to equip farmers with modern tools and techniques that will significantly enhance both the quality and quantity of food production in Lagos," Alade said, noting that the theme aligns with the government's vision for a tech-driven agricultural future.
He also acknowledged the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stating that the administration's strategic policy direction continues to drive forward farmer-focused programmes.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Systems, Oluwarotimi Fashola, described the training as a vital step in reinforcing the agricultural foundation of the state and empowering its farmers and extension agents.
