The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has announced July 1, 2025, as the official deadline to phase out all cash transactions across its offices nationwide. The move is part of an ongoing reform agenda to modernise the agency and align its operations with global digital standards.
In a statement released on Monday, NIPOST's Director of Corporate Communications, Frank Alao, said the transition is a key component of broader efforts to reposition the agency into a more innovative, efficient, and digitally driven institution.

According to Alao, "We are assuring Nigerians of a revitalised NIPOST that delivers superior service and embraces the future."
He noted that starting July 1, 2025, all NIPOST offices will cease to accept cash payments at their counters. Instead, customers will be required to use approved electronic payment channels for all transactions.
"This is a crucial step in our modernization journey, one that ensures safer, faster, and more transparent service delivery," he added.
The reform is also in line with the federal government's Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and aims to meet the growing demands of Nigeria's digital economy.
NIPOST says it is committed to implementing reforms that not only enhance service delivery but also align with international best practices, ensuring its relevance in the digital age.
