The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to digital literacy as a key driver of economic growth and national prosperity.
Speaking at the BusinessDay CEO Forum in Lagos, themed "From Reforms to Recovery," Inuwa highlighted the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) Initiative, which aims to achieve 70% digital literacy by 2027. The initiative targets all Nigerians including students, traders, and underserved communities through mobile campaigns, community hubs, and online platforms.
> "Digital literacy goes beyond using devices. It's about unlocking opportunities for entrepreneurship and job creation," Inuwa said.

He traced Nigeria's digital journey from 2001, when ICT contributed less than 0.5% to GDP, to today, where over 130 million Nigerians have internet access, and ICT accounts for more than 17% of GDP.
Inuwa also linked the initiative to President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes digital innovation across sectors like education, healthcare, and agriculture.
NITDA's strategy, he said, is built on eight pillars, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, talent development, and innovation.
"A digitally literate nation is a prosperous one. Equipping citizens with digital skills is essential to Nigeria's future," he concluded.
