To mark World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) 2025, the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) is advocating for expanded AI and digital skills development initiatives aimed at equipping Nigerian youth for future employment and innovation.
In line with the global theme, "Youth Empowerment Through AI and Digital Skills," the NCSP is leveraging its bilateral ties with China to roll out targeted training and capacity-building programmes. These efforts are designed to improve digital literacy, boost youth employability, and drive inclusive growth across Nigeria.
Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Director General of NCSP, highlighted the importance of preparing Nigerian youth for the evolving demands of the global economy. He noted that digital empowerment not only addresses unemployment but also strengthens economic resilience.

"When our youth are digitally skilled, we unlock a new era of economic transformation," Tegbe stated. He underscored the strategic role of the partnership with China, particularly through collaborations with tech companies, innovation hubs, and educational institutions, to create a digitally competent generation ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Tegbe also emphasized the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in bridging the digital divide, especially in underserved areas. He said the NCSP is working to align national policies with practical implementation by bringing together key stakeholders across government, business, and global partners.
As Nigeria and China deepen their economic and diplomatic cooperation, the NCSP aims to ensure that Nigerian youth are equipped to lead in technology, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. This year's WYSD serves as both a celebration and a rallying point to invest in youth and build a future-ready, inclusive digital economy.
