The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved ₦142.03 billion for the construction of modern bus terminals across Nigeria's six geo-political zones, a move set to open new opportunities for small businesses and traders.
Transport Minister Sa'idu Ahmed Alkali said the project, to be delivered through a public-private partnership (PPP), will create safer, better-equipped transport hubs with secure ticketing, retail spaces, and waiting lounges.
These facilities are expected to attract more travelers, increase roadside commerce, and improve logistics for SMEs relying on inter-state transport.
"This is not just about travel; it's about stimulating local economies, creating jobs, and supporting small enterprises around these hubs," Alkali noted.
